Profile

Rita is a Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) specialist with experience in managing multinational and Donor projects in Africa and Southern America. 


Starting as a community mobilization officer for PRONET Wa in the Lawra districts, her training skill and ability were developed early in her professional career which she employs for capacity building. She also worked with the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) as a district coordinator for the Nadowli district.


She worked with a management consulting firm- GARIBA Development Associates: where she coordinated and provided professional input into at least 3 donor initiatives: Danish support to District Assemblies (DSDA II) project in Volta and Upper West Regions; CIDA-DISCAP in the 3 Northern regions and a short-term support to the GTZ-RODECO project in the Volta and Eastern Regions. 


She was previously a senior WASH advisor with SNV Netherlands Development Organization. In this position she managed two international projects: DFID – Country Lead for Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All (SSH4A) project in 8 districts across Ghana. The project seeks to improve WASH Behavioral Change Communication (BCC), Demand creation, Governance and WASH supply chain in the 8 districts. World Bank – Project Manager for Results Based Financing project (RBF): Japan Social Development Fund in four districts in the northern region of Ghana. The project was a unique innovation that sought to improve value for money. The project promoted hygiene and sanitation, provided institutional latrines and Rainwater Harvesting Tanks to schools, and implemented Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA) in the four districts. 



She was also the Community Relations Manager for Aqua Africa: she was involved in planning the community entry and engagement strategy for all communities receiving water filtration systems. Oversees all community engagement on behalf of Aqua Africa, including liaising with government partners and the company’s subcontractors, producing training materials for communities for community engagement. Fostering relationships with key stakeholders (government and community); Working with the Country Manager (Ghana) and Head of Operations (UK) to proactively address any issues encountered in communities.
